Must Be Connected to Get Power!

So today I asked my son to plug my phone into the power cord so that it could be charged. A few hours later I asked him for the phone and he said it was downstairs. I went looking for it and found it sitting in the middle of the floor connected to the cord but the cord was not plugged into the wall. The lesson I learned from this is that I can have Jesus in my life but if I am not connected to him daily it does not do me any good!

Investing in the Future

It is sometimes so hard to believe that the choices I make today will affect my future.  The dreams I dream and the time I invest in chasing these dreams will shape my future and those around me.  What am I doing with the gifts, talents, and resources God has given me?  What are you doing with your life?

The Treasure of a Child

This is a post that will not relate to everyone.  Those of us who have been blessed by God with children really need to consider this precious treasure.  God has given us the blessing to care and nurture for another life.  The responsibility is one to never take for granted.  Everything we model before them is taken in and makes an impact on our children.  Make every attempt to invest in the lives of your children.  I am humbled by that thought every day!

Time = Investment

Time is our most valuable resource.  Today and everyday our focus should be how we can add value to someone’s life?  Make a worthy investment in the life of your wife, child, friend, family member or friend.  You are important to many people and the best thing you can give is free!  Encourage someone today with a phone call or a kind note.  Life is hard and sometimes we have to combat the pains of life with shots of love and compassion.  Are you up for the challenge?

So how much is enough?

So what do you buy children who have all of their needs supplied?  Christmas has become so commercialized  and an excuse for many people to overindulge themselves and their love ones with more stuff?

YOUR THOUGHTS!!!!!

Money Well Spent!!

If you were gifted $5000 today with no strings attached, what would you do with this gift?  We have been given and entrusted with so much and we typically resort to squandering our resources.  So lets move this from the rhetorical to a point where there is dialogue.

What is worthy of our investment?  What would you do with this gift?

I look forward to hearing from you and hearing your heart!

Reason over Responsibility!

My children are my responsibility.  God has given them to me to lead, guide, direct, and nurture so that they can become responsible people who love God.  Loving God involves serving people.  That was Jesus’ goal and that should be our aim and goal as well.  Now here is a scenario worth our thoughts.

It seems that everyday we hear about teenagers involved in crime and self damaging behavior.  How do we handle what we hear?  Do we just talk about it and REASON through how this happens.  How this cycle of pain, social and parental irresponsibility continues.  On the other side we can see this as a RESPONSIBILITY we all have to nurture and impart wisdom into those who are products of neglectful.

I choose to take RESPONSIBILITY over REASON and invest in the lives of others!  What about you?

Widows and Orphans?

My pastor spoke today on taking care of those in need.  It is interesting how we will find the time and money to do the things that are so important to us.  What is more important than meeting the physical and emotional needs of a person who is without?  Is that $4.26 cup of coffee we buy 5 times a week? How about the $50 we spend on golf twice each month?  Or maybe the $50 we spend for take out each week when we already have a bounty of food in the fridge?

I am not suggesting that we sell our homes, go communal, and never eat out.  All I am saying is where we devote our time and our money really shows where our priorities lie.  I want my life to mean something and make a lasting difference.  How about you?

New to this!!

Well, I have now enetered the blogging world. I am sure all kinds of information relevant to my family’s life and our ministry will be posted here. One of the main reasons for this blog is to open up everyone’s eyes to the importance of stewardship. When you think about it, is there more to life? Your family and ministry, the only other thing I can think of are my friends! Hope you enjoy.
